December 2012

We do not have a scheduled meeting in December, however, keep checking this site, your home email (if we have your email info) or our facebook page should a meeting be necessary.

To keep up to date on the latest bargaining news check out the PS Let's Talk Blog, the link is at the top of this page. As we move through the negotiation process it will be imperative that all of our members become informed and engaged in the process to show our support to the bargaining team. If you have questions about bargaining support events in your work site or in our area, contact Region 4 mobilizer Ryan Nickel, ryan.g.nickel@gmail.com. If you are in the corrections sector, the Region 4 mobilizer is Ron Pilon who can be reached at pilon.ron@sympatico.ca

Ryan will be holding information update sessions at the OPSEU Membership office, 920 Princess Street Kingston, every Tuesday evening from 7 pm to 10 pm beginning November 20th. These sessions are available to all our members and Ryan will answer your questions and provide you with the latest updates from the bargaining table. Bring your children if you wish, it is an informal question and answer opportunity for you to get informed on your bargaining teams negotiations of your contract.

We also have the benefit of strong sector support in the ODSP campaign with Pam Smith heading that group, Pam can be reached at pam.smith455@gmail.com. In the Service Ontario battle to prevent privatization, we have Teresa Rolls, available at terripolaris@yahoo.ca. Our MNR campaign coordinator is Dave Fluri available at dave.fluri@onlink.net. The one item that must be brought to everyone's attention at this time is that if your membership information is not up to date, you may not be eligible for benefits should a labour disruption occur. If you are not receiving emails from OPSEU Local 432 then we do not have a personal email address for you which could indicate that your information is not up to date with the union. . to ensure your information is accurate. This is especially important for our members who may have transferred into or out of Local 432 at some time in their career, we need to ensure that you have been returned to our local with the correct active status.

Please use the following link to ensure your membership information is up to date, www.opseu.org/notices/connect-with-opseu.htm -- remember that if you are updating your information through the main OPSEU link, please send the same information to Local 432 email link. If you are registered with an "Ontario.ca" email address, it will no longer be used for OPSEU updates. Please update your information to ensure you are kept up to date with all the activity headed our way over the next few months.

We will have 5 members of the local attending Divisional Meetings on November 30th, December 1st & 2nd in Toronto. We will have members from MCYS, MTCU, MCSS, MCSCS and MOL hearing the latest news from the Management Employee Relations Committee (MERC) Members as well as getting an update from the Bargaining Team on negotiations.

Are you interested in becoming a steward? You can be either an active steward or an information steward, attend a meeting and hear more about the role. We need your help....our list of stewards has dwindled at a critical time for our members!
