Jan 2014

Happy Holidays to all members of Local 432, may your days be filled with love, laughter & friendship. Whether you spend the holidays with family, friends, at the hockey arena or helping out as a volunteer in our community - enjoy yourself!

Big thanks to our Social Committee members, Erin Kemp, Judy Vallier, Rhonda McCall and Maryvonne Tonge, for all of the work on the very successful holiday party held on December 6th. We had 100 attendees and feedback indicates everyone had a very enjoyable evening.

The presentation of our $1000 donation to Helen Tufts Nursery School will allow the school to purchase food for 4 months - plus we collected over $200 in cash at the holiday party to add to this donation.

At the holiday party we also collected a big box full of mitts, hats, scarves, gloves and even a snowsuit - the generosity of our members is amazing and our community charities are very appreciative. Thank you to Ken Hill and Judy Vallier for looking after the delivery of the donations!

We have tried, unsuccessfully, to have the Kingston Whig Standard publish a photo of the donations however check out upcoming copies of Kingston's SNAP magazine and share the news with your office colleagues. We will also submit the photo to our website, Region 4 and OPSEU head office to promote the wonderful generosity of our members.

The upcoming meeting schedule will be posted soon with our first meeting in 2014 to be held January 8th at 920 Princess Street, 2nd floor boardroom at 5:15 pm. All are welcome!

We will have a busy 2014 as the OPS collective agreement ends in December and we will be ramping up activities throughout the year to ensure our employer knows they are dealing with members who want a fair agreement that protects our jobs, our pensions and our community services.
