AUG 2015

We hope your summer is being enjoyed with family and friends, taking road trips and soaking up the sunshine.
Thank you to everyone for your continuing efforts toward a fair contract for our OPS members. Rallies have been held, leafleting has occurred and OPSEU members continue to contact our MPP's and the Premier to demand a return to the bargaining table. Form B's are still needed from many of our members to ensure that should a labour disruption occur you will receive your allocated strike pay in a timely manner. The form is posted on our website and should be provided to a steward in your worksite as soon a possible. Ensure the form you complete includes your banking information and a void cheque/direct deposit form as NO cheques will be issued.

Our next meeting with be held on September 9th at the OPSEU offices 920 Princess Street. This is a general membership meeting and we will be discussing, and voting on, several items that require membership participation. Please join us at 5:00, meeting starts at 5:15 and we will have food available so please let us know if you are attending to ensure we order enough for everyone.

Upcoming events include the Provincial Women's Conference in November (website) and the Region 4 Equity Conference. Links to applications are included in this posting and have also been sent in an email to members earlier in July. The Provincial Young Workers Conference is in August and we are thrilled to have 2 members from Local 432 attending. We will look forward to an update at the September meeting on your experience.

Honorarium payments are underway for all stewards an local executive committee members. Due to changing Canada Revenue Agency rules, we now have to complete this process through Head Office which will require expense claim completion. All applicable members will receive an email in the next few weeks from our treasurers Maryvonne Tonge and Krista Willis with instructions on the process.

The challenge to ALL of us is to ensure that our colleagues, our families and our communities understand that WE are battling to keep public services public, fight against the excessive costs that we know privatization of services will cost all of us and protect our future! tization of services will cost all of us and protect our future!
